Explore the 2017 Solar Eclipse in Makanda, and Carbondale, Illinois On Monday, August 21, 2017 a solar eclipse took place spanning coast-to-coast in the United States. It is very important to not look at the sun during the eclipse if you are not wearing protective glasses. From 11:52 a.m. to 2:47 p.m. the eclipse will be passing overhead in Carbondale, Illinois. Astronomers and individuals from around the world will be taking place in the 2017 Solar Eclipse events this weekend and leading up to next Monday. The path of totality will pass through the United States with partial eclipse starting in Oregon close to 09:05 a.m. PDT. Carbondale, Illinois will have a viewing party at the Southern Illinois University football arena. For residents living in the area, as well as visitors before next Monday, the craft shop has smartphone filters on sale to grab photos of the solar eclipse. The automotive industry is currently in a state of disruption. Last year Uber and Lyft halted their service in Austin, Texas. Recently, Uber launched the service in the southern section of Illinois. Each market reacts differently to technology. After a rocky start in Austin, Uber and Lyft both decided to pull their product from one of the biggest markets in the United States. Uber and Lyft Arrives in Carbondale, Illinois
Two of the biggest ride sharing companies, Uber and Lyft, have recently begun providing service in Carbondale, Illinois. The city of Carbondale has amended part of ordinance to allow Uber and Lyft to operate, but that amendment does not take place until April 1. This has resulted in fewer drivers on the road in March.
