Suwannee Hulaween 2016 Returns to Live Oak, Florida in Grand Fashion
Suwannee Hulaween 2016 held their fourth annual music festival in Live Oak, Florida on October 27-30. Silver Wrapper, Suwannee Music Park, Purple Hat Productions and The String Cheese Incident brought in My Morning Jacket, Disclosure and Big Gigantic to help headline the four day camping music festival. Tony Smith, writer for Crescent Vale, has covered the event in 2014, 2015 and again this year in 2016. Hulaween 2016 Hosts the Most Wicked Pre-Party in Camping Music Festival History
4 stages, 24 total acts, including EOTO, Marco Benevento, a late night Greensky Bluegrass show, and 2 sets of Umphrey’s McGee. That’s what you call a Pre-Party at Suwannee Hulaween! Needless to say the bar was set high early in the weekend. Marco Benevento was the first of many to funk up the Amphitheater stage during the extra warm afternoon. EOTO & Friends As always EOTO helped get this party going on Thursday, but taking the stage somewhat earlier than last year and being joined by Umphrey’s McGee’s guitarist Jake Cinniger and Break Science’s Borahm Lee.
Hurricane Matthew Takes 26 Lives in the US, and Over a Thousand in Haiti
Hurricane Matthew, a deadly tropical hurricane, with many meteorologists calling it a 'post-tropical cyclone,' has now taken 26 lives in the United States, and left over a thousand dead in Haiti. This storm has taken a major toll on the island of Haiti, as well as in the southeast section of the United States. Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina had announced last Friday a state of emergency following the recent storm. The Clash Between Honey Bees and the Zika Virus
The recent developments with the Zika Virus has put North and South Carolina in a tough spot. These two states connect with Florida, and have been releasing a chemical called Naled to combat mosquitos in their area. Even though there has not been a reported case of the Zika virus being locally-transmitted, The Washington Post notes that South Carolina does have over a dozen cases report for travel-related Zika. The Zika Virus is an infection that can cause birth defects, and can impair brain functionality for newborns with mothers infected with the virus. A large majority of reported cases of the Zika virus have been travel-related cases, such as a person traveling to Central and South America, and returning to the Untied States. The 14 locally-transmitted cases of the Zika virus have been reported near Miami, and in the Florida area. 21,000 guests take a ride on the Ghoul Train Suwannee Hulaween hosted their third annual event at Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida this past Halloween weekend. The festival featured four days of live music and artwork for guests to interact with in central Florida during late October. Weather this year was more welcoming than in 2014, and the size of the audience reflected to the warmer temperatures ranging from 60-80 degrees.
