The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has announced today on Twitter that the Dakota Access Pipeline will not run under Lake Oahe as proposed, and the Army Corp of Engineers will be looking for additional routes to run the pipeline. For those unfamiliar with Lake Oahe, it is a large reservoir behind the Oahe Dam on the Missouri River. The Missouri River is the longest river in the Untied States. If the pipeline had gone under the lake, or if it gets close to a main river, it could still pollute drinking water. Not all pipelines malfunction, but enough of them do to create

The Army Corps of Engineers sent a letter on Friday to the chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe explaining that the violent confrontations have taken place, and they are shutting down the campgrounds, (area north of the Cannonball River, including the Oceti Sakowin camp). After December 5, protestors will be cited and charged with trespassing if still on the land. The trespassing citation is just a way for government to try and clear some of the land for the oil companies to dig under the Missouri River. According to standingrock.org, the website notes that: 'The tribe maintains jurisdiction on all reservation

Solar Power Running the Island of Ta’u in American Samoa

By |November 22nd, 2016|Categories: Clean Energy, Environment, Featured, National News, Tech News, Tesla Motors, World News, YouTube|Tags: , , , , , , |

Tesla Motors and SolarCity has invested 5,300+ solar panels and 60 Tesla Powerpacks on the South Pacific Island known as Ta’u. The island of Ta’u has a population of a little over 55,000 people. The island is now being ran on 100% renewable energy. The power is transferred from the solar panels to Tesla Powerpacks where they can store up to 6 Megawatt hours of storage. With the Powerpacks ability to store energy, the island can go three days without sun, and still have enough power in the reserves to fuel the demand from the community. Fortune recently covered Telsa's progression in renewable energy

Leonardo DiCaprio, actor and environmentalist, has just pulled off one of the most dynamic moves in contemporary filmmaking by releasing his latest documentary Before the Flood on YouTube. During his time working on The Revenant with Alejandro G. Iñárritu, DiCaprio found downtime to start production on his own film covering the controversial topic of climate change. Denmark currently operates on 100% renewable energy. Germany currently is being ran on 30% renewable energy.  The United States currently has 13% of energy being produced by wind, solar and other forms of clean energy.  Our country is clearly falling behind, and that is due to

The U.S. Department of Energy continues to keep the public informed on the latest forms of technology. They published recently that close to a half of a million electric vehicles are now on the road. That connects to a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 58%. When they report that costs for solar panels cost for solar panels have dropped 54% since 2008, I was able to find out more on those numbers with a recent report by the U.S. Department of Energy. They also recently noted: Land-based wind accounted for 41 percent of all new capacity

Last week, Colonial Pipeline had an oil spill that took place on September 9 in Shelby County, Alabama. After the spill, more than a quarter of a million gallons of oil have been leaked into Shelby County. Oil and gas continues to create environmental issues across the world. As the United States rapidly moves toward renewable energy, there is still a large amount of energy being produced with oil and gas. The pipeline that burst starts in Houston and ends in New Jersey. It supplies a large amount of the gasoline to power automobiles in the eastern section of the

Fracking Creates Record-Setting Earthquakes in California & Oklahoma

Environmental Tide in Favor for a Ban on Fracking The people have spoken. Fracking causes earthquakes. And with people, I mean scientists, geologists, journalists and academics all agree, hydraulic fracturing/fracking has not only caused more frequent earthquakes in Oklahoma, the United Kingdom, but also in California as well. The problem is now pushing Oklahoma lawmakers to take a stand. The New York Times recently reported: "On Monday, the state Corporation Commission asked well operators in a Connecticut-size patch of central Oklahoma to reduce by 40 percent the amount of oil and gas wastes they are injecting deep into the earth.
