Standing Rock Sioux Tribe Announced Dakota Access Pipeline to be Rerouted

The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has announced today on Twitter that the Dakota Access Pipeline will not run under Lake Oahe as proposed, and the Army Corp of Engineers will be looking for additional routes to run the pipeline. For those unfamiliar with Lake Oahe, it is a large reservoir behind the Oahe Dam on the Missouri River. The Missouri River is the longest river in the Untied States. If the pipeline had gone under the lake, or if it gets close to a main river, it could still pollute drinking water. Not all pipelines malfunction, but enough of them do to create

The Standing Rock Native American Reservation has Become the Epicenter of the Environment

The Army Corps of Engineers sent a letter on Friday to the chairman of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe explaining that the violent confrontations have taken place, and they are shutting down the campgrounds, (area north of the Cannonball River, including the Oceti Sakowin camp). After December 5, protestors will be cited and charged with trespassing if still on the land. The trespassing citation is just a way for government to try and clear some of the land for the oil companies to dig under the Missouri River. According to standingrock.org, the website notes that: 'The tribe maintains jurisdiction on all reservation

Five New Solar Power Projects in Virginia Fueled by Amazon Web Services

By |November 19th, 2016|Categories: Amazon, Clean Energy, Economy, Environment, Featured, National News, Tech News, TED Talks|Tags: , , , , , , |

Amazon, the Seattle-based technology company, steamrolls through the negativity of the past election, right through climate change, and arrives in Virgina to change the world with five new solar farms. When Amazon created two wind farms in Ohio, I was excited, but to see them work directly with the eastern seaboard is an exciting piece of progression behind the clean energy movement. This level of progression is summerized by Amazon and Business Wire: 'By supporting 260MW of solar generation capacity in Virginia, Amazonbecomes the largest corporate backer of solar projects east of the Mississippi River.'  They also spoke with Governor

How Climate Will Change during the Donald Trump Era

Donald Trump is currently in a state of transition after claiming the presidency during the 2016 election. "The (DEP) Department of Environmental is killing us environmentally." - Donald Trump (04/2016) That quote summarizes the amount of time and energy Trump has spent learning about different departments of the government. Or it is him playing dumb about a topic he knows about well, but doesn't want to appear knowledgeable. What he meant to say, possibly, is the (EPD) the Environmental Protection Department limits corporations to generate revenue with regulations. One of the positive elements to Trump's environment plan is his

Renewable Energy & Bioengineering Leads the Clean Energy Revolution

The U.S. Department of Energy continues to keep the public informed on the latest forms of technology. They published recently that close to a half of a million electric vehicles are now on the road. That connects to a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions by an average of 58%. When they report that costs for solar panels cost for solar panels have dropped 54% since 2008, I was able to find out more on those numbers with a recent report by the U.S. Department of Energy. They also recently noted: Land-based wind accounted for 41 percent of all new capacity

Last week, Colonial Pipeline had an oil spill that took place on September 9 in Shelby County, Alabama. After the spill, more than a quarter of a million gallons of oil have been leaked into Shelby County. Oil and gas continues to create environmental issues across the world. As the United States rapidly moves toward renewable energy, there is still a large amount of energy being produced with oil and gas. The pipeline that burst starts in Houston and ends in New Jersey. It supplies a large amount of the gasoline to power automobiles in the eastern section of the

Amazon has announced plans to open their largest wind farm in Scurry County, Texas. This progressive step forward mirrors the companies ability to adapt, and react to the demands of an evolving world. Amazon plans the Texas Wind Farm will generate 1,000,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of wind energy annually. That clean energy would help power 90,000 homes. "We're excited to work with the community in Scurry County and Lincoln Clean Energy to generate 1,000,000 MWh of renewable energy each year from West Texas," said Kara Hurst, director of sustainability, Amazon.
