On Monday, February 13 more than 180,000 people have been told to leave their homes due to risk of flooding north of Sacramento. The recent storms that left an excess amount of water on the ground are currently causing large problems for residents trying to find a place to stay during the flooding. One of the local residents, Edward aka Tricky on Twitter, tweeted: Evacuees welcome at my home. Tweet @ me if you need a place to sleep. #OrovilleDam #OrovilleSpillway — Edward aka Tricky (@_its_Tricky_530) February 13, 2017 The Los Angeles Times has a live feed on their

President Trump just signed paperwork to reopen negotiations for the Dakota Access Pipeline. After former President Obama signed against the pipeline to run under the Missouri River in 2016, Trump just reversed that decision. The Los Angeles Times reports: “I am very insistent that if we’re going to build pipelines in the United States, the pipe should be made in the United States.” - President Trump The recent decision to reopen negotiations for pipeline construction does not mean that production will take place. The big picture problem with supporting oil and gas is the increasing amount of carbon that those forms

The 2017 Sundance Film Festival is currently underway in the mountains of Utah. During the first day of the event, the festival organizers experienced major issues with the ticketing system. The festival tweeted: 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 The festival was able to fix the issue and ticket sales have been running more smoothly since day one. Solar Power Panels Increase Production in Areas with More Snowfall

By |January 17th, 2017|Categories: Clean Energy, Environment, Featured, National News, Tech News, YouTube|Tags: , , , , |

The U.S. Department of Energy recently reviewed the impacts that snow caused on solar power panels. They found out that in light snow conditions, the snow helped generate more power overall. In contrast, they also found that heavy snowfall currently created a problem for the panels. CleanTechnica reported in 2012 that snowy conditions can increase productivity with solar power panels. It does seem that the reflection of the snow would aid to the amount of solar (photovoltaic) cells available for the panels to collect. As technology continues to advance, the materials and methods that the panels are used will soon capture the

A number of environmental issues continue to grow in Australia, as well as the South Pacific Islands. Larger countries, such as the United States and Australia produce a much larger carbon footprint, adding to the sea levels rising around coastal areas. The National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration reported: 'Global sea level has been rising over the past century, and the rate has increased in recent decades. In 2014, global sea level was 2.6 inches above the 1993 average—the highest annual average in the satellite record (1993-present). Sea level continues to rise at a rate of about one-eighth of an inch per

Denver Zoo is currently holding holiday events that showcase different elements of the park after dark. The park was opened on Christmas, and a group of friends wanted to check out zoo. It was my first time attending the Denver Zoo, and was impressed with the grounds overall. Flash the Marlin, an art exhibit with Washed Ashore at the Denver Zoo. The Sundance Institute and film festival have announced a special screening of An Inconvenient Truth in Park City with a impactful discussion on climate change. Sundance Film Festival has brought on a new category titled The New Climate to collect and organize the amount of new filmmakers looking to bring awareness to climate change. 10 years ago An Inconvenient Truth showcased the problems we continue to face today. With the next administration blindly moving forward with staffing that have spoke out against climate change; it is even more important that Sundance provides an international stage to give filmmakers the opportunity to share

Google Taps Artificial Intelligence to Aid with Renewable Energy

By |December 12th, 2016|Categories: California, Clean Energy, Economy, Environment, Featured, Google, National News, Tech News, United Kingdom, YouTube|Tags: , , , , |

Google continues to expand their presence in the renewable energy sector with a recent announcement of going to 100% renewable energy by 2017. Amazon and Google are both making major progress within clean energy development. In Google's case, they are using DeepMind, a United Kingdom form of technology, that uses artificial intelligence to solve problems. The Guardian reported: “We are convinced this is good for business, this is not about greenwashing. This is about locking in prices for us in the long term. Increasingly, renewable energy is the lowest cost option,” said Marc Oman, EU energy lead at Google.

The Donald Trump Transition Takes Steps in the Right Direction

By |December 7th, 2016|Categories: Clean Energy, Economy, Environment, Featured, National News, New York City, Politics, San Francisco, YouTube|Tags: , , , |

The Donald Trump transition continues to reshape the political structure of the United States. He has made suggestions for a tax plan that would put a 35% tax on businesses that hire staff outside of the country for lower wages. I strongly back raising taxes on everyone to help get our country out of debt. Another strong suggestion for the Donald Trump transition team is to raise taxes early in his presidency, and turn the tables on the mainstream media. Deep down, I truly believe Trump wants to help this country grow. It doesn't make any sense for him
