The Trump Administration has Avoided Putting Tariffs on the Fossil Fuel Industry On Monday, the Trump Administration has opted to place tariffs on imports for solar panels and washing machines. This new tax would be a 30 percent increase on costs for solar panels coming into the United States. This move was extremely selective and damaging to the renewable energy sector. National Park Service Issues Statement Regarding Visitors to Use Extreme Caution

National Parks Will Remain Open, But No Staff Will be there to Provide Safety and Guidance The National Park Service is temporarily shutdown due to the lack of bipartisan behavior in Congress. Visitor centers will be closed, but the parks will remain open. In many cases the parks with dangerous conditions should be toured with extreme caution. Some monuments are closed such as the Statue of Liberty and Independence Hall. Additionally, the bathrooms at many parks may become problematic. Visitors should also take their garbage with them to prevent backup. The NPS has issued the following statement on Twitter: 'Alert:

Mainland Drilling with Fracking and Offshore Drilling Shows Additional Signs of Unsafe Conditions On Saturday, January 20 the city of Waterbury, Connecticut experienced an oil leak due to a valve malfunction. This incident clearly shows a reoccurring health and environmental problem with drilling for fossil fuel. In this case the oil has leaked out into the Naugatuck River. An Iranian Cargo Ship Carrying 136,000 Tons of Oil has Sunk to the Ocean Floor Off the Coast of China An Iranian cargo ship was recently hit by a Hong Kong-registered cargo ship that caused an oil spill. For the past eight days the Iranian ship had been leaking oil into the South China Sea. Today, the Iranian ship has fell to the bottom of the ocean floor.
