No one really knew what to expect at the inaugural year of Vertex Music Festival, but excitement filled the air like electricity. The forecast had called for thunderstorms, but fearless music lovers from all over Colorado and the US began arriving at Cottonwood Meadows as early as Thursday morning. What they found was a community that would leave them more whole at the end of the weekend than at the beginning. Friday After a very wet and chilly Thursday night, the festival kicked off Friday morning with a beach party. Being a native born Floridian, I didn’t consider

Florence + The Machine closed down the Hangout Stage in grand fashion. Her set started early at 9:25 p.m. After four days of intense music, the festival celebrated their seventh year with fireworks and historic music on stage. The next generation definitely

It was a recreational area for people of all ages to interact with kickball, a fire pit, water guns and relaxing shade during the early hours of the day. I can’t remember the last time I played kickball, and being 31-years-old, I felt like a kid again at bat. I did fail to

The Hangout Music Festival officially kicked off with wet weather. On Thursday evening the weather wrecked the lighting rig for The Weeknd. He did perform a short set of hits on stage later in the evening. Alabama Shakes and Walk the Moon each delivered in perfect weather Friday night. Hangout Fest did a good job at working with the weather, and getting the gates opened as soon as the storm cells and
