This past weekend, ARISE Music Festival took place on Sunrise Ranch in Loveland, Colorado. The festival hosted a diverse lineup including Atmosphere, Tipper, Lettuce, Beats Antique, Ani DiFranco, Sunsquabi, Rising Appalachia, and The Expendables. It is easy to see why music lovers would flock to ARISE from across Colorado and the country. However, in addition to top-notch musical bookings, ARISE serves a higher purpose.   ARISE Music Festival bills itself as a leave-no-trace event. In addition to traditional garbage cans, every trash receptacle also included recycling and compost. Because of the conscientious nature of the attendees, the grounds were

Tony Hawk and the city of Detroit have announced that they will be working together to create a new skatepark scheduled to open on August 16. The Wayfinding skatepark will double as a performance space and public art installation featuring the work by artist Ryan McGinness. It will also be open and free to the public. As a resident in Illinois, I get sick to my stomach with major news outlets constantly reporting and glorifying crime. It bothers me so much, that I sit around and think about how could we repair the system of urban development. My solution

In the Sonoran Desert south of Tucson on weekend of February 2nd – 5th, artists, music lovers, and gem and mineral enthusiasts gathered together for a meeting of the minds. The Gem and Jam Music Festival, which coincides with the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, is every bit as much as of an art festival as a music festival. This unique blend of people creates an idyllic environment bursting with creativity. When entering the festival, I was first taken aback at the variety and number of art installations, paintings and live painters. A pyramid decorated with a dragon motif

Watch the interview and check out the trailer for Top Five below. This piece by the New York Times is Chris Rock in raw form.
