India is working with Facebook to provide underdeveloped areas with access to the Internet. In early 2016, Facebook attempted to work out a partnership with India, but hit roadblocks with their crafty algorithms. Mashable reported: 'In January, India’s telecoms regulator rejected Facebook’s Free Basics program after more than a million people registered complaints abut the plan, which would have given free access to specific websites chosen by Facebook.' SXSW recently announced their first round of musical acts for the 2017 event taking place March 14-19. California Roads Expand with Renewable Energy
Engineers in California are trying new methods to produce renewable energy with their roadway system. Recently, state officials have gave the green light to a pilot program including piezoelectric crystals that will be installed on several freeways. The crystals generate electricity by a form of kinetic energy as automobiles drive over the roadway. This system has been shown to be successful in other parts of the world, such as Japan, and now will have the opportunity to help the United States transition to renewable energy. The festival has noted that eight participating network groups will accept entries from countries in their territories, which will be evaluated by a panel of judges. Motion Graphics in a Filter Form Nintendo, Niantic and The Pokémon Company released Pokémon GO, a smartphone app that augments reality, (with a motion picture filter) to display digital creatures in with a live setting.
