The Stanford University Computer Science program is testing out Javascript development to replace some of their Java-based projects. This transfer marks the first major change to their introductory CS curriculum since 2002. Stanford University and Codecademy reported: This new JS course is being piloted as an optional alternative to the older Java course, not a replacement. The two languages are very different. Prof. Eric Roberts explained that although 15 years ago Java was intended to be "the language of the Internet," JavaScript has since taken its place as the dominant language of the web. Many people hope that this change will

Thomas Middleditch, Kumail Nanjiani, Amanda Crew, Zach Woods, and Martin Starr brought their true colors out for their stop by Talks at Google. Kumail Nanjiani opens the discussion with a dig at Google for not having chairs in a viewing area. That is kind of low rent of Google to not provide chairs to their employees. Public libraries have chairs. I find Nanjiani's joke at the start to

Microsoft presents The Explanimators – Episode 1: An Animated Guide to Artificial Intelligence

By |May 1st, 2017|Categories: Entertainment, Featured, Film News, National News, Pop Culture, Tech News, YouTube|Tags: , , , , , , , |

Artificial intelligence is helping make the world a more sustainable environment. Microsoft recently released a video covering the topic of AI and machine learning. The video points out that AI has helped increased yields for farmers up to 30 percent. It works as an excellent introduction for those unfamiliar with artificial intelligence. One element that bothers me is the narrator using a smartphone while driving in the video. Microsoft is developing an open source platform for their Aerial Informatics and Robotics Platform, but smartphone use while driving is illegal in some states for good reason. Over a dozen people a day

Oculus and Samsung release a Series of new Virtual Reality Titles for Gear VR

By |April 25th, 2017|Categories: Augmented Reality, Entertainment, Featured, Film News, Gaming, National News, Pop Culture, Tech News, Virtual Reality, YouTube|Tags: , , , , , , |

Samsung and Oculus is working together to provide over 20 new virtual reality projects to Gear VR. In addition to the new titles, Samsung also provided a promotional/preorder run of Gear VR for consumers that purchased the Galaxy S8. For those that miss the preorder, Gear VR with the controller is $129. I suggest this model for virtual reality users that have had some experience with virtual reality, but still waiting for more people to adopt to consuming content on the same VR platform. One element that I enjoy about Gear VR with controller is that feels like a
